WHAT'S THIS?

- As an Association we have been existing (ed?) since 1991. We're concerned with promotion and inspiration of youth's creation. We gather people who are active, ?seeking? and unconventional.

- We point our offer at youth, but with(in) our work we cover (include) groups of all age. Our offer is mainly for those who want to develop themselves, those who want to use their ambition, creative energy not only at school or work and finally for those who like to spend their free time in a constructive and original way.

- We support young people initiatives through putting background (both intelligence and technical) at their disposal to help them to develop their interests, ideas, talents etc.

- We encourage everyone to fight the boredom and stagnation. We want our town to become a place of extraordinary happenings - performances, concerts, events, festivals.

WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE?

- Our extensive goal is to create in Cieszyn a place of international youths' meetings, workshops and trainings. A place which would become an integration platform of many different circles, a place to share the expieriences between different cultures and which would gather many active and creative groups and personalities.

PROGRAMMES

European Voluntary Service

The European Voluntary Service project allows young people to work as volunteers in another country for a specific time, usually about 6 up to 12 months. The work executed while working as volunteers can apply to domains and aspects such as natural environment, art. and culture, classes with children, youths or older people, heritage or sport and free-time activities.

Make a connection

A three year long programme which supports youth groups' activities that work for local committees. It includes three grant competitions for youth initiative, organising conferences. SCMT is the programme's representative for half of the Silesian province. The programme supports Polska Fundacja Dzieci i Młodzieży (Polish Children and Youth Foundation).

Latająca Akademia Sztuki (Flying Academy of Art)

Travelling education classes improving creativity of young people. Tested during the realisation of the Program Aktywacji Młodzieży (Youth Activation Programme), it bases on the system of cyclic classes. It tries to use the experience gathered by SCMT during its work with children and youth in Cieszyn in communes like Hażlach, Goleszów, Dębowiec and Chybie. The programme is supported by Polska Fundacja Dzieci i Młodzieży (Polish Children and Youth Foundation).

Klub środowiskowy dla dzieci i młodzieży (Enviromental club for children and youth)

The club is a part of Program Aktywacji Młodzieży (Youth Activation Programme). It organises artistic classes (theatre, art., literature, etc.); copyright youth initiatives are deeply supported. There also functions a computer centre with direct internet access. During summer time there are also organised summer play centres called "Twórcze Lato" ("Creative Summer") for children. The programme is supported by Polska Fundacja Dzieci i Młodzieży (Polish Children and Youth Foundation).

Program Aktywacji Młodzieży (Youth Activation Programme)

This is a modified version of Program Wielokierunkowego Rozwoju Twórczości Młodzieży (Multidirectional Development of Youth Creativity). It is our superior programme, which started back in 1994. It coordinates preparations and realisation of projects that aim at interests, artistic ability development and initiates young people's activity for the sake of local communities. This programme includes detailed programmes and projects.

Program Edukacji Plastycznej (Art Education Project)

Classes organised for high school students, which aim at getting to know the fine arts and techniques, are conducted by older students from Wychowanie Plastyczne Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Cieszynie (Department of Arts Education at Cieszyn) within their teaching practice. The subject matter results from young people's needs and proceeds in two ways: for people who want to develop their own interests, and for people, who plan to go to art academies. There are organised: open-air painting cycle "Cztery pory roku" ("Four seasons of the year") and exhibitions of own and other artists' work from outside the region.

Program Edukacji Teatralnej (Theatrical Education Programme)

The programme has functioned since 1994, and is realised by Amatorska Szkoła Teatralna (Amateur Theatre School). It bases on organising practical theatrical classes for young people, who want to develop their acting workshop. It includes etudes, happenings, small dramatic forms, realisation of theatre spectacles, attending workshops, meetings and theatre shows outside Cieszyn.

Program Edukacji Literackiej (Literary Education Programme)

The programme is realised by Publication Projects. SCMT possesses the kind of publications promoting literary work.

HISTORY

Stowarzyszenie Cieszyńskiej Młodzieży Twórczej (Creative Youths' Association of Cieszyn) began its work in year 1991 starting from theatre activities, then, responding to the needs and expectations of young people , it was constantly modifying its programme aiming at multidirectional development. The goal of association is not only the promotion of widely understood creativity (also in the areas that are unconventional, original, impossible to realise at school or at other cultural centres), but also moulding youth leaders and popularisation of those initiatives, that are unprofitable, altruistic for own environment and local community. We base on young volunteers' work. We have organised a few hundred cultural events, printed a few dozen publications (poetry, magazines and bulletins). We also run Centrum Wspierania Organizacji Pozarządowych (NGOs' Support Centre). Some of activities which were initiated by the association a few years back have already become a tradition. This happened to "Ogulnocieszyńska Matóra na Rynkó", which throughout the years was gathering people, who wanted to be on the side of those, who are writing the real exam at the time. It is important to mention, that the range of age within the participants of our happening varies between 6 and 80.
Surely the most important annual event organised by SCMT is Międzynarodowy Festiwal Twórczości Młodzieży (International Festival of Youth Creative Activity), which was founded in 1996. The festival is a form of an open, unrestricted presentation of youth's output which goes on for few days. Thanks to its interdisciplinary character, theathre, music groups, artists, photographers, volunteers and other young creators take part in it.
